Sustainability

At Temper & Stone, we are committed to sourcing high-quality materials in accordance with international conservation standards.  We source premium leathers and materials responsibly, prioritizing suppliers who uphold strict environmental and labor standards. Our product lines comprise of cow, goat, sheep and buffalo leathers.  Instead of using exotic skins, which often raise ethical and environmental concerns, we choose high-quality embossed leathers.

Embossed leather allows us to recreate the rich textures and patterns of exotic hides—such as crocodile, lizard, or ostrich—while using responsibly sourced bovine leather. This approach provides the same striking visual appeal and durability, but with far less environmental impact and without contributing to the challenges of the exotic animal trade. By working with embossed leathers, we can offer our customers the look and feel of luxury, while staying true to our values of sustainability, ethical sourcing, and respect for wildlife. It’s a choice that delivers beauty, character, and conscience in every pair of boots.

Every pair of shoes and boots is handcrafted with longevity in mind—designed to reduce waste through durability, repairability, and timeless style. By choosing small-batch production over mass manufacturing, we minimize our footprint while ensuring fair and respectful working conditions at every stage of the process.

Statement on CITES
Temper & Stone complies with the Convention on
International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).  CITES governs the types of exotic animal products that are permitted for commercial use. It is common for bootmakers to utilize "Appendix 3" CITES species - these are commercially farmed species that are not endangered when farmed responsibly. Due to the regulatory requirements, permit obligations and customs mandates, Temper & Stone does not currently stock CITES products.  Further information about CITES can be found here: https://cites.org/eng/disc/text.php
